enfin!!
en this semester has proven to be quite the a**-kicker. by the third week, i had already pulled two all-nighters! ah! anyways, tonight is the first time that i finished ALL my homework BEFORE midnight! i should celebrate! haha, not really.
in any case, i'm gonna see this as a sign of good luck. besides, my birthday is in october, so october is MINE!!... october, by itself, is my lucky charm!
woot! autumn has arrived!!

did i really write this?!?!
i found an old notebook and on the first page was...
life comes alive when the unexpected,
the extraordinary is the norm.
this is when i am in my element.
these are the times when happiness
ceases to be simply a mood but
transforms to describing a state
of being. dreams no longer are
separate from reality... for they
are reality. the surreal merely
speaks truths. to wish is to
utter the words that create and
to hope is to guarantee its
manifestation. these are the
times in which this story begins.
when i write a book, these are exactly the words that will begin the story.

the kite runner.

my friend aleks invited me to watch 'the kite runner' presented by the arizona theatre company at the temple of music and arts. first of all, i absolutely love this theatre because i practically grew up there. anyways, i was curious as to how they could put this story on a stage, but it was magnificently done. as expected, i cried the entire play. it was beautifully acted and well put together. there was a percussionist who played a variety of hand drums and bells. other than that, there was little to know music. the narrator was the 'grown up' amir, who also jumped in and out of his own narrations. despite this switch from being in the present telling of the past and playing the past amir, you never lost track of which role he was playing. walking out of the auditorium, i heard everyone sniffling, so i wasn't the only one.
all in all, this gets a huge recommendation!!
you can find out more about tickets on the the arizona theatre company website since this show runs until octobre 3! and then in phoenix throughout the month of octobre!

my present to myself.
frohe weihnachten and bonne année to me!
i just bought my ticket to europe last night! i tried working with a travel agent [i've had nothing but good luck until this time], but she ended up being a stupid-head. her prices were absolutely ridiculous... and the thing is, i KNOW sta has a contract with british airways. in the words of blain "incompetent boobery!" ha. [dean, i know you laughed!]
i'm taking the overnight train to los angeles, then british airways takes care of the rest. los angeles to london to berlin. christmas in berlin. then i meet kassy in london heathrow and we'll take over london together for new years! i'll get to catch up with my friend stevie [the chinese austin]. the other exciting part is that my favourite cousins yodi, malia and nai'a will be there for new years too! so we're going to go watch the crazy fireworks show at the london eye together! then kassy and i will take a 3 or 4-day trip to paris. i'm looking forward to the chance to practice my french in real life. :P then back to the uk to drop kassy off in norwich just in time for her orientation and start of the spring semester!! yay!! i'm going to help her find all the survival stores in norwich (ie the marketplace, winter clothes...) and then i head back jan 12.
i realized earlier this week that i will not be spending the next three thanksgivings, christmases and new years with my parents. oh well.

Today, I was waiting around at the UA Bookstore. While perusing the postcard selection, I happened upon the magnet poetry sets. I already have a French one that I use on my bulletin board in my room, so why not add one to the fridge? I decided up on the ideal selection for a refridgerator: foodie thoughts! It belongs in the kitchen afterall. After killing about 15 minutes taking them apart once I got home, I spent another 10 or so minutes thinking up some phrases. Here are a few (of about 8):
